In this module, I genuinely hope to undertake a long-term project for myself, aimed at enhancing my photography skills as well as researching a topic I truly care about, with the goal of self-improvement and future career development.
Portfolio Review
2022: Beginning Phase - Instinctive, Chaotic and Immature
In this phase, the photographic skill is weak and limited, depend strongly on Mixed Media and Photo Manipulation, both digital and analog.
2023: Testing Phase - Experimental, Foundational, Aspirational
In this phase, photography skills had improved, including shooting and editing images. This was a trial phase of experimenting with various types of images and techniques, without fear of making mistakes.
2024: Self-discovery/Evolution Phase - Mature, Individualistic, Consistent
In this phase, the artistic style has achieved a sense of unity, with personal expression becoming clearer through self-awareness of beauty and the visual style one pursues.
Now: Enlightened Phase (?) - The ultimate version of myself
At this stage, I want to completely delve into myself, to understand what I truly want to do and what I wish to contribute to society. I want to discover what defines me, what encourages and drives my creativity, how I perceive things, and ultimately answer the question, "Who am I?"
Personal Moodboard
After two years of practice, experimentation, and working on more than 30 different projects in various roles, I have developed my own artistic style as a photographer. My images consistently maintain an aesthetic quality, a contemporary feel, and a timeless nature with subtle, soft colors, primarily blue and yellow, with high contrast and relatively low saturation. In addition, I focus on creating a sense of movement within the frame, conveying the dynamic nature of the subject, even when they are standing still. My subjects often exhibit a balance between masculine and feminine qualities, evoking a sensual, alluring feeling for the viewer.
Week 1 In-class Brainstorming
For me, understanding my desires during this stage of learning and development is crucial, as it leads to personal growth in terms of character, behavior, and future career. Reflecting on my two-year journey in practicing art, I can proudly acknowledge my achievements while honestly admitting the shortcomings I need to improve. Therefore, at this stage, I wish to delve deeper into myself, exploring my identity by addressing topics related to human behavior, health, and healing, combined with the artistic areas I've practiced and developed in the past. I hope that in this graduation year, I will gain a deeper understanding of myself and be able to answer the question, "Who am I?" in the most insightful way.
